Trail Continues In the Child Abuse Case of Brandy Blair

The jury saw a second taped interview betweenLincoln police and Brandy Blair on Tuesday. Blair is the mother accused of leaving her child alone for two days while she smoked meth. During that time her son, 22 month old Christian Riefler was found dead in his bedroom.

This taped interview came two days after Blair's son was found and much like the first it was difficult to understand. At the end of the more than hour and a half interview Lincoln police asked Blair if she felt responsible for her child's death. To that she responded no. She was then asked if she thought someone should be held accountable. After a brief pause she gave a response that was too difficult to make out. Earlier in the day the jury heard from Melissa Jones, the woman whose home Blair stayed at for two days and used drugs. She testified that she relayed a message from the roommate who Blair thought was watching her son. That message told Blair to come home and take care of her son. Melissa Jones says Blair responded to that by saying quote, “she can kiss my…and then she used and expletive”.

The defense explained that Blair and the roommate were in the middle of an ongoing argument at the time. It is still not known if Brandy Blair will testify but the case is expected to be given to the jury sometime Wednesday.
