Lincoln Public Schools receives high rating in state’s yearly testing report

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Department of Education released its yearly assessment and accountability numbers for the previous school year.

Schools statewide have shown growth, and Lincoln Public Schools’ students are continuing to test at high levels.

LPS received an AQuESTT classification of Great for 2023, based on testing from the previous school year.

The classifications are based on factors such as state assessment scores, student growth, absenteeism reduction and college readiness benchmarks for the ACT.

Dr. Sarah Salem, associate superintendent for teaching and learning at LPS, said teachers work to monitor students’ progress throughout the school year.

In the Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System, LPS students scored higher than the state average in reading proficiency this year.

“We can look at some of the things we’ve put in place and be really proud of the work our teachers have done,” Salem said.
