Kent Boughton

Kent grew up in Grand Island and was a part-time DJ at local radio station KRGI while in high school.

He earned a broadcasting degree at Brown College in Minneapolis, then went onto a career spanning 52 years. He worked in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Hastings and Kearney, Nebraska.

Boughton retired from NTV in Kearney in 2023 after 24 years as Chief Forecaster and Outdoor Editor.

He is excited to join the Storm Alert Team at KLKN-TV, returning to what remains a passion for him.

After the loss of his wife Lori in 2017, Kent married Marcie Ryan of Lincoln. The couple makes their home in Grand Island, with Kent commuting to the Capital City when needed to help cover the weather.

An avid outdoorsman, Kent is a certified fishing instructor, a past president of the National Wild Turkey Federation in Nebraska, and a hunter education instructor for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for over 30 years. He also hosts Kent Boughton Outdoors on YouTube and his Facebook page.

Boughton is the proud grandfather of Lauren, 5; Avery, 8; Owen, 15; and Eli, 19. His daughter, Nikki, and son, Chad, both live in Grand Island with their families.

In his spare time, Kent enjoys spending time with family, traveling, researching family history, and collecting rocks and antique beer cans.
