LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —100 pins, 100 wins.

Evie Becher, the Lincoln High junior is making history for girls wrestling.
On January 30 in a road match vs. Raymond Central, Becher notched her 100th career pin. It’s the most ever by a Lincoln High student.
But that’s not all. Since she was a freshman competing at the varsity level, she has an astounding record of 115 wins, and just 10 losses. Now, 102 of them are pins.
“Hopefully, I can prove to everybody that I’m not just over exaggerated,” said Becher.
Lincoln High’s head coach says since she stepped foot on the mat, she’s been setting the example on what it means to be a Link.
“Ever since she came into this program as a freshman, she is all about not just helping build the program with what she’s doing but also getting our girls better in the room,” said Andy Genrich.
Becher says what motivates her is she grew up around boys, and always had a chip on her shoulder to be better than them.
“We definitely have come a long way to thinking wrestling wrestling is a guys sport only, guys picking on the girls for wrestling,” said Becher. “Now the guys accept us and actually see that some of us are better than them.
Plus, her team has become like a family to her, and she’s helping pave the way for girls wrestling
“We teach each other things, we motivate each other,” Becher said. “We are pretty much just a group of a bunch of sisters.”
The NSAA Girls State Wrestling Championships begin February 17.
