It’s an act of kindness that brought these two strangers together, but it started as a mistake.

"We’re driving back home and I look down at my hands on the steering wheel and my heart just dropped because I knew exactly where my rings were," said Lacey Delaney.

Delaney had taken her daughters to Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha to get out of the house.

The girls stopped to play with their dolls on some stairs in the shade while Delaney applied one last coat of sunscreen on them.

"It was getting late and they close at five so I’m like ok girls we gotta hurry up and pack everything up so then it was just kind of a rush and I left them sitting right there on the stairs," Delaney said.

She realized her mistake on the home, but it was too late.

A flurry of phone calls, emails, and a search with metal detectors by the gardens staff turned up empty, so Delaney turned to Facebook.

What happened next left her speechless.

"I had a notification from this lady saying she had a ring just like mine and I was welcome to it if I didn’t find mine."

Rose Johnson saw Delaney’s post on what would have been her 15th wedding anniversary.

The ring she had– an exact duplicate of Delaney’s.

"It had been sitting in my jewelry box for 14 years now and I was never going to wear it again."

So she gave it to Delaney.

The ring– a perfect fit creating the perfect ending and leaving them strangers no more.

"Just thank you it’s not enough."
