Capital Humane Society finds four emaciated, anemic dogs by Conestoga Lake

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On Oct. 6, the Capital Humane Society (CHS) were brought four dogs that were found near Conestoga Lake.

They were emaciated, dehydrated and anemic. The two-year-old Husky mixes were brought to CHS’ Admissions and Assessment Center.

The dogs, Teddy, Maisie, Milo and Winnie, each weight 10 pounds or less. CHS said this is half the weight they should be at.

Teddy and Maisie were in the most critical condition, with both being unable to stand. Both were taken for emergency veterinary care and hospitalization.

According to CHS, Teddy’s condition was too severe for him to recover and had to be humanely euthanized.

Maisie is eating and walking on her own now, but requires IV fluids and constant monitoring.

CHS said they are needing individuals help for the dogs by donating.
