LPD: Investigators chase down wanted man, 10 grams of meth found

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Monday afternoon, around 1:45, investigators with the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) spotted 48-year-old Ajamu Shabazz near Van Dorn and S 13th Streets. Shabazz was wanted on an outstanding warrant for 2nd-degree assault for hitting someone in the back of the heads with a baseball bat.
Officers report approaching Shabazz with their badges displayed, shouting “Police, you’re under arrest, stop.” Shabazz dropped two backpacks he was carrying and ran.
He was found a few blocks north down S 13th Street in a resident’s backyard.
LPD says they found 10.5 grams of meth, 4.9 grams of marijuana, a meth pipe, $117 in cash, and several empty baggies in Shabazz’s backpacks.
In addition to being arrested for his felony warrant, Shabazz was cited for multiple drug charges.
