A cold front delivers a cooler pattern for Sunday

UPDATE – 10:50 p.m. Saturday:

The Severe T’Storm Watch has been allowed to expire. We do not expect any severe thunderstorms overnight and into Sunday morning.

Radar imagery as of shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday still shows a few isolated showers on radar. A few of these may persist overnight, but they will be very few and far between. Most will get through the night dry.

Radar - 10:46pm Saturday

ORIGINAL STORY:

After a very hot and breezy Saturday, a cold front is approaching from the west which will deliver a new pattern for the days to come.

Along this front, we are watching the potential for some shower and thunderstorm development. A Severe T’Storm Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday for a swath extending from Alma/Red Cloud up to Norfolk/Sioux City. Damaging winds and large hail are possible with any storms in the Watch area.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch

You may notice that Lincoln is not included in the watch. This is because storms will weaken on approach to the capital city. After 7 p.m., some scattered storms will be possible in southeastern Nebraska.

Stormcast Saturday Evening

Unfortunately, not everyone will see rain on Saturday night. This is especially the case in far southeastern Nebraska as these storms weaken. However, these scattered showers give some the opportunity to see rain.

For Saturday night, we expect some overnight clouds with a low temperature near 72° in Lincoln. There is a chance for a lingering shower or two.

Saturday Night Forecast

While an isolated morning shower cannot be ruled out, indications are that Sunday will be a drier afternoon. It will be a cooler day, with high temperatures likely dipping back into the 80s.

Sunday Forecast

The cooler weather sticks around for some time. In fact, temperatures may be stuck in the 70s on Monday as another potential wave of precipitation approaches.
