A few degrees cooler, but still very warm
Whereas Monday saw a high temperature in the mid-90s in Lincoln, we will likely be a few degrees cooler for the next several days. Highs will be in the low to mid-90s in and around the Lincoln area on Tuesday. The heat is not going away!
Tuesday will be another breezy day, with a southeast wind sustained anywhere from 10 to 20 miles per hour during the day. And again, you may notice the humidity at times.
While skies should be mostly sunny in eastern Nebraska, low clouds will develop in western Nebraska early Tuesday. A spotty shower or two can’t be ruled out along a corridor extending from Arapahoe and North Platte toward the Thedford and Valentine areas.
That same area could see a few storms developing by late afternoon and evening. These will make an attempt to push east into central Nebraska before decaying as we lose the daytime heating effects. Nevertheless, we cannot rule out a spotty shower primarily west of Lincoln overnight and into Wednesday morning.
There is a Level 1/5 risk for severe weather in northern Nebraska for any storms that do get going on Tuesday evening. This is not a widespread severe weather threat. There’s just an outside chance to see a storm or two capable of producing severe wind or hail.
Storm chances will exist in western Nebraska through the remainder of the workweek. Some of those storms may push east by Friday and Saturday, giving eastern Nebraska a chance to see some sort of rainfall. Until then, it’s looking hot and mainly dry in the Lincoln area.
