A dominant area of high pressure extend from the Desert Southwest into the northern Plains bringing mainly dry conditions to our part of the country through next weekend and beyond. A weak shortwave will slide through the region overnight and primarily tomorrow morning bringing chances for isolated thunderstorms and showers. Near normal highs are expected the first part of the upcoming week then we catch a heat wave as temperatures climb closer to the century mark by next weekend.
