A few more mild afternoons

You couldn’t ask for better weather for the Huskers’ spring game. Saturday featured a lot of sunshine, with many locations eclipsing the 70° mark across southeast Nebraska.

A frontal system will be lurking to our west early Sunday morning. This will allow more mid to high-level clouds to be in our midst overnight and into Sunday morning. It should be a mild night, with temperatures in the lower-40s.

Saturday Night Forecast

The aforementioned system passes sometime on Sunday morning, which should stifle highs for Sunday afternoon. How high our temperatures get on Sunday in large part is dependent on the exact timing of the cold front. I’m confident that we’ll get into the 60s. We’re forecasting a high of 65° on Sunday in Lincoln, but give or take a degree or two depending on the timing of the front.

Sunday Forecast

Monday is almost a repeat of Sunday weather-wise. Our next storm system approaches on Tuesday. Winds will really pick up out of the south, which will allow 80°+ temperatures to arrive in southeast Nebraska.

On Tuesday morning, I cannot rule out some isolated light rain showers, producing very little accumulation. By Tuesday evening, there is a chance to see a few thunderstorms. I’ve seen this pattern set up several times, and I think there’s a decent chance the storms to miss us to our east.

The Storm Prediction Center highlights areas east of Lincoln as having the best chance to see severe weather on Tuesday – but we’re very close to the western edge of that zone. Just something to watch for now.

Severe Weather Outlook - Tuesday

Temperatures turn significantly cooler starting Wednesday. Highs dip back down into the 50s, where we’ll likely stay for several days.
