A few more rounds of storms possible

It was another cloudy start to our Friday, with some areas of dense fog too. Showers were also trying to move into southeast Nebraska. While some steadier rain may fall in some communities closer to the Nebraska-Kansas Stateline, these showers will break apart as the morning progresses.

Around Lincoln, we’re likely dealing with spotty shower activity during the morning and afternoon. As long as there is cloud cover, there is a chance to see spotty rain.

Stormcast Friday Afternoon

Due to cloud cover, temperatures will be slow to climb at first. However, skies will turn mostly sunny by the end of the day. This will help push high temperatures into the middle-80s in Lincoln.

Friday Forecast

MORE ROUNDS OF STORMS

As skies clear in eastern Nebraska, more storms will develop in western Nebraska. This happens by late afternoon and evening. The storms will move eastward through the evening and into the overnight hours.

This means that clouds will return to eastern Nebraska overnight Friday. A few showers will also be possible closer to Lincoln in the overnight hours. However, they will likely be decaying upon approach.

Stormcast Friday Evening

There is a slight (Level 2/5) risk for severe weather where Friday evening’s storms initially develop. Damaging winds and large hail are the main concerns. The Level 2 risk zone does not extend too far to the east, hinting at a limited severe weather threat as these storms head east into the nighttime hours.

Severe Weather Outlook - Friday

Another round of storms is possible on Saturday. This time, the chances are higher in eastern Nebraska. A slight (Level 2/5) risk for severe weather is in place for all of eastern Nebraska on Saturday. Again, damaging winds and large hail are the main issues.

Severe Weather Outlook - Saturday

The timing of the stronger storms is still a bit iffy, but anytime during the late afternoon and especially the evening is fair game. We should get a slightly better idea of the timing for these storms later on Friday. For now, just know that Saturday will be a day to stay weather-aware.
