A frigid feel to the air on Monday

We’ve been advertising Sunday as our “last mild day” – and that reality will become known starting Monday morning. Clearing skies and a cold air mass trailing a frontal passage will allow temperatures to drop to the upper teens to low-20s across southeast Nebraska on Monday morning.

Factor in the wind, we could be dealing with wind chill values around 10° cooler. Coats are a must!

Sunday Night Forecast

Breezy conditions will stick around for the first chunk of the day, but I anticipate that wind speeds will gradually diminish in the afternoon. The air will have a frigid feel on Monday, with high temperatures struggling to make it into the low-30s!

Monday Forecast

Although skies should be mostly clear for most of Monday, clouds arrive yet again in the mid to late afternoon. It should be cloudy overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning. Although we cannot rule out a few isolated flurries on Tuesday morning, the overall chance looks slim.

This is another situation where dry air in the low levels may prevent snowflakes from reaching the ground. No impacts are expected out of this.

Stormcast Tuesday Morning

We’ve trended warmer on Wednesday and Thursday, bumping highs into the 50s along with dry weather.

Our next weather maker appears to approach on Friday. In recent days, computer model guidance has suggested that some in Nebraska may see some accumulating snow. There’s been a big shift in guidance on Sunday which suggests that most, if not all, snowfall will reside north of I-80. If that’s the case, Lincoln remains dry.

Although computer model guidance trended away from a snowier solution for Lincoln, keep in mind that we may see the opposite in the days to come. We’re in the “trend monitoring” phase right now, so keep checking back for the latest updates.
