A frigid start to Saturday, but warming up by afternoon
Friday delivered a taste of winter across southeast Nebraska. Temperatures were stuck in the 30s, with gusty winds keeping wind chill values in the upper teens to low-20s all day long. A few flurries were able to make their way into southeast Nebraska as well. Nothing accumulated in the capital city, although a light dusting did occur in a few locations in northeast Nebraska.
Afternoon low clouds will begin to depart Friday night. The clear skies will allow temperatures to plummet into Saturday morning. Low temperatures should be in the upper teens to low-20s on Saturday.
Although actual air temperatures will be in the upper teens to low-20s, the wind chill will be less of a factor as wind speeds will die off gradually on Friday evening.
We should wake up to mostly clear skies on Saturday morning. While some high clouds will likely be overhead, we should remain mostly clear for the first half of the day. High temperatures will be in the low-50s in Lincoln, with temperatures gradually becoming warmer farther west. Though not as windy as Friday, it may be a little breezy at times on Saturday.
Clouds begin to arrive in the afternoon hours in advance of a weak disturbance. We cannot rule out a few light showers on Saturday evening. These should be fairly insignificant, and they will only be operating on an isolated basis. Most will not see much, if anything, in their rain gauges from these showers/sprinkles.
Temperatures should reach the low-50s yet again on Sunday, but the real warmup will happen next week where high temperatures return to the 60s.
