A hot and hazy Sunday ahead
Sunday, temperatures will be quite hot and above average. Most of us in the upper 80s and maybe some lower 90s. There will be areas of smoke in the morning and afternoon hours.
Tonight, the smoke aloft in the atmosphere will south from the Dakotas and will make the skies hazy for Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon, the smoke lingers in eastern Nebraska. By Monday morning, the smoke will linger across the eastern half of the state.
The smoke near the surface will be minimum through tonight. Sunday morning, parts of eastern Nebraska could see some haziness closer to the surface, which could affect people with respiratory symptoms. This near surface smoke will continue through Sunday afternoon and linger into Monday morning.
Monday, a SLIGHT risk for severe weather is in place for parts of west central Nebraska. A MARGINAL risk for surrounding areas. Main concern look to be heavy rain, winds and hail.
Mondays storm system looks to bring some decent rainfall to parts of central Nebraska. A SLIGHT risk and a MARGINAL risk for excessive rainfall is in effect through Monday night. Parts of the sandhills region could see 1.00″- 2.00″+ of rainfall through Monday night. This could cause for some flooding in localized areas.
Tuesday, a MARGINAL risk for excessive rainfall is in place for parts of SE Nebraska.
This storm system should help with our drought conditions across the state.
Potential rainfall totals Monday night into Tuesday morning range from 0.25″- 1.00″+ for parts of west central Nebraska.
A hot and smoky Sunday. A cold front moves through Monday night into Tuesday morning, bringing severe weather out west and rain showers east. Scattered and isolated rain and storms possible all through next week.
