A look into the recipient of the Tribute to Bryan Trauma Champion

Thursday night Miles Margritz, of Kearney, will be part of Bryan Health’s "Tribute to Bryan Trauma Champions."
His recovery is remarkable. At one point, he didn’t even remember his wife. Experts informed him they’ve never seen a person survive a crash like he experienced.
Margritz was on his way to Grand Island early in the morning for breakfast with co-workers, just days before Christmas, when a man, driving a stolen car at 140 miles per hour, ran a red light and struck Margritz’s car head on.
The driver of the stolen car was pronounced dead at the scene at the intersection of highway 281 and Old Potash.
After first being taken to CHI St. Francis in Grand Island, he was life-flighted to Lincoln.
Margritz arrived at the Bryan Trauma Center as a category one patient- the most severe. He had multiple injuries all over his body, including fractures in his skull, shoulder, pelvis, wrist, leg and ankle. Surgeons operated immediately to stop the internal bleeding, then specialists focused on the most severe injuries to his pelvis and ankle.
After two weeks at the Bryan Trauma Center, he began rehabilitation therapies at the Bryan West Campus. After a month in therapy he was discharged and returned home to Kearney. His life is nearly the same as it was before the accident.
Margritz and the people who saved his life will be reunited at the Lincoln Cornhusker Marriott.
