LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two Lincoln women who attended President Donald Trump’s rally in Omaha on Tuesday say they weren’t bothered by the cold weather or long wait times.

Many pointed to frigid temperatures and long wait time to be bused back to their cars from Eppley Airfield, with some saying people were left “stranded” at the event.

But Teresa Weaver and Susan Weseman told Channel 8 Eyewitness News they don’t think that was the case.

“I absolutely did not feel like I was stranded there,” Weaver said. “The police officers were in great communication with us. We couldn’t have asked for a better police officer to be in front of us helping us.”

Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert, who attended the rally, said busing was an issue.

“The Trump campaign had 40 buses and that 40 buses, they picked that number because they thought that that was the amount they needed to transport ten-thousand people,” Stothert said.

But instead of the 10,000 estimate, officials say nearly three times that number actually showed up, with Stothert saying 22,000 went inside the event while thousands more were left outside.

Weseman and her friends said they ended up waiting more than two hours before getting shuttled back to their cars.

“We ended up going last. we were one of the last groups to get on, you let the elderly get on first,” she said. “But we actually had a lot of fun. There was a lot of great people there.”

Omaha police said seven people were hospitalized for various reasons during and after the event.

Weaver and Weseman said no one in their group fell ill.
