A soggier Valentine’s Day
After a gorgeous Monday, the weather turns not so gorgeous on Tuesday. Tuesday will be cloudy, breezy, and rainy. Temperatures won’t vary all too much either, we’re looking at 40s for most of the day. We may see afternoon highs top out in the upper-40s to near 50°.
Rain chances remain elevated through the morning and afternoon, before tapering off on Tuesday night. It may not be raining at every point, but you’ll likely see rain at some point on Tuesday.
On Tuesday afternoon, there is a chance to see a changeover to snow in central Nebraska. Southeast Nebraska should see everything fall in the form of rain. In fact, areas of far southeast Nebraska may be able to see a little bit of instability that produces a few rumbles of thunder.
If you have any Valentine’s Day plans during the evening, I’d still suggest taking the rain gear just in case. However, we will be trending in a drier direction on Tuesday night. One thing you’ll definitely notice on Tuesday night is the wind, which could be sustained anywhere from 15-25 mph.
While we do dry out heading into Wednesday, the clouds remain. By Wednesday night, another disturbance will be nearing. This will bring a round of snow to portions of the state.
This would mainly be an issue on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Winter Storm Watches are posted for the far southeast corner of the state. Needless to say, this is a storm system to watch closely.
