A UNL student’s song, “Tightrope” is Lincoln’s top radio hit

The song, “Tightrope”, by Marro Lamar, is blasting in many car radios and the local star is just getting started.

He and his producer talk about what makes the song and Lamar’s journey here so special.

The UNL student has become a singing sensation, his song, Tightrope, is on local radio stations and he hopes the song continues to take off.

“Each song that I write is written after like something real,” says Lamar. “I try to take an experience and just like a moment and just create that into a song create that into something that lasts longer so people can kind of relate to.”

One of Marro’s many talents is multitasking. He is in the Marine Corps. ROTC program, a UNL cheerleader and student.

I ask how he juggles and succeeds in every area.

“Sometimes it can be hard switching between those roles so being hyper-aware of your time like time management is key.”

His producer, TJ Sadler, says Lamar has a gift that will take him far.

“It’s really amazing because I work with a lot of artists here in Lincoln, Nebraska and Ramaro is super talented. “Like I was blown away at his skill right away.”

His future is set because as of May 2020, Lamar is planning to accept a commission into the Marine Corps.

For now, he has three songs out and he wants you to follow him on social media.

“You can find all of my music under Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Amazon music pretty much anywhere that streams music from you can find it under Marro Lamar, yea, you can check me out.”
