The 5 member team from UNMC Nebraska medicine went over training before leaving..
There’s been a 2nd outbreak this year of the ebola virus in the Uganda area.
This team which had experience with this disease in 2014, will be there to train local providers, hoping to keep it from spreading.
Infectious disease expert Dr. James Lawler said, “we’ve had 10 years of experience with the biocontainment unit and with the activation in 2014 to care for patients and we feel an obligation to use that expertise with others in a time of need.”
Nebraska will not provide any direct care with patients.
Again, they will train frontline health care workers.
