UPDATE: City of Lincoln issues snow emergency for Tuesday

A winter weather advisory is in effect for most of the Channel 8 viewing area.  The heaviest snowfall is expected Tuesday afternoon.

Snow is expected to begin falling in Lincoln late Monday night, and the City has issued a snow emergency beginning at 8 a.m.  A snow emergency means parking is banned on emergency snow routes, bus routes and other major arterial streets.

A map showing these routes is available on the City website at lincoln.ne.gov (keyword: snow).

City officials remind residents that crews can do a better and faster job of clearing streets if they are not lined with parked vehicles, so please plan ahead for alternate parking.
