A year later, Lincoln police still investigating causation of home explosion

Lincoln police say the investigation into the causation of an August, 2017 home explosion is still ongoing.
The devastating event led to the deaths of homeowners Jeanne and Jimmy Jasa.
The explosion caused damage to a total of 34 homes in the area.
Neighbors say they just want to know what happened.
"Being so close to it, we would like some answers. Just a little bit of closure, so to speak. Everyone is speculating, just some solid answers would be nice," said Cynthia Carlson.
The Carlson’s have lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years.
Their house is located just two doors down from the location of the house explosion.
Cynthia was at home with her husband when it happened.
"We just heard the noise, didn’t know what the heck it could have been. In ten seconds we were out, we looked at the front and the house was gone… It was just a shock. It was so loud that our windows were imploding in the house and i didn’t even hear them," said Carlson.
The Carlson’s home had damage to the windows, doors, rafters and dry wall.
The event shook the entire Lincoln community.
Police believe the blast was ignited from inside the home. They are treating the case as a criminal probe until they can pin down exactly what happened before the blast that threw Jimmy and Jeanne Jasa from their home.
"I think once in a lifetime is enough. It’s a learning and growing experience. Everything negative has a positive, so i think we’ve all taken the positive out of it," said Carlson.
Earlier this week the manner of death for the Jasa’s was listed as undetermined by Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon.
Officials say this is subject to change, and is depending on investigative steps that are still occurring.
Cynthia Carlson says the event really brought the neighborhood together.
"The neighbors all came together and dealt with it. Everyone had their won emotions and how they handled it. I think it all brought us closer as a community."
In a news release Saturday, police chief Jeff Bleimeister expressed a commitment to the parties impacted to complete the investigation.
