Above average temperatures for a while
We’re in for quite the warm up this Friday.
Temperatures will bottom out early in the single digits, then already start to warm toward sunrise.
Quickly, we’ll be on our way to the middle 40s by the afternoon. Thank you, southerly winds.
Northern Nebraska will be on the colder side with highs in the 30s (even closer to freezing in northwest Nebraska). Mild temperatures throughout the 40s will be expected for those around the interstate and in southwest Nebraska.
Scattered snow will take place in the Panhandle by Friday afternoon, diving south through southwest Nebraska tonight. Accumulations could amount to half an inch, but most will see less.
We’ll remain dry through the weekend with temperatures only slightly cooler Saturday and Sunday. Our average high at this point in January is 36°, so we’ll be above that but not by much.
Temperatures in surrounding areas will also be in the mid to upper 30s throughout the weekend. More clearing and mostly sunny conditions will happen by Sunday. Winds will be especially light on Sunday as well.
We’ll start next week in the lower 50s. During that time, we’ll also be watching for our next chance at precipitation by the end of next week. Details are limited right now, but a wintry mix of precipitation could be possible with that.
