Accident Follow-up

We're learning more about the four teenagers who were in critical condition after a major car accident in south Lincoln. Two of the teens are Lincoln High School students, and the other two used to go there.

Classmates tell Channel 8 news, two of the victims have improved. While the other two continue to fight for their lives.

Police and fire crews responded to the accident at 19th and Stockwell streets just after three o'clock Monday afternoon. They found a white Chrysler smashed into a tree. Police tell us the car was traveling a high speed, when it went airborne and bottomed out on the road. The driver then lost control and ran into a tree.

Those injured were 17-year-old Ricky Turco, 17-year-old Austin Jones, 17-year-old Joshua Rice and 15-year-old Megan Churchill. Meanwhile Lincoln High School has grief counselors on hand, for students worried about friends, and classmates.

Police say at this point, no one has been ticketed in connection with this accident. There is some question as to whether the driver of the car has a driver's licence. Police say, there's not one listed in the accident report as there usually would be.
