Affidavit: Man caught with marijuana, cocaine and loaded gun in north Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is facing a slew of felony charges after being caught with drugs and a loaded gun in north Lincoln, court documents say.
Around 3 a.m., an officer spotted a vehicle in a parking lot near 26th and N streets. It was parked adjacent to a liquor store and is a “known after-party area,” according to an arrest affidavit.
The officer approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver, 29-year-old Eric Abney, and the passenger.
The affidavit said the officer smelled marijuana, leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle.
Inside the driver-side door, the officer found three bags containing a “white residue consistent with cocaine,” according to the affidavit.
The officer also found a small lunchbox, which Abney had tried to remove, containing “several” small bundles of marijuana and bags of cocaine, weighing 2.8 grams, the affidavit alleges.
Eventually, a loaded gun and three glass jars containing nearly 6 pounds of marijuana were discovered in the vehicle, the affidavit said.
About $830 and several items of drug paraphernalia were also found.
During the investigation, officers learned that Abney had an active warrant for his arrest.
He was charged on suspicion of four felony drug charges and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
A Lancaster County judge set Abney’s bond at $400,000, meaning he must pay $40,000 to be released from jail.
