After taste of fall, summer tries to sneak in

You may know about the fall equinox, which happened over this past weekend. But the fall equilux technically happens a few days later than the fall equinox. The equilux is the day that we see equal hours of daylight and nighttime, each for about 12 hours.

This day comes delayed either before the equinox in the spring or after the equinox in the fall due to factors such as our latitude, bending of the sun’s light through the atmosphere and others.

Happy Equilux!

Solstice Equinox

Another “top-notch Tuesday”? I’d have to say so, looking at what we’ve got in store for us. Temperatures will be in 70s this afternoon with light winds out of the north. There aren’t many days like this that we get to take advantage of, so be sure to do so Tuesday and Wednesday!

Wednesday we should see more of the same, starting off cool and quiet in the morning, than 70s by the afternoon. It’ll be Thursday and into Friday that the summer heat will try to kick back on – upper 80s by the end of the week.

And as Midwesterners and Nebraskans, we know that we tend to go through a lot more than just a typical spring-summer-fall-winter rotation. We’re usually getting teased about fall early on, before another late round of summer comes into play. That looks to be the case as we close out September and welcome October, too.

Midwest Seasons

Part of the reason it’ll be warmer on Friday will be the winds gusting around 30-35 mph out of the south. Warmer air will be brought in, but conditions will be dry. These conditions may lead to some fire dangers, so that’ll be something to keep an eye on.

And it’s looking to stay dry for some time. We do not have great chances for rain through the weekend, but next week may be more promising.
