After yearlong layoff, Bourbon Theatre set to reopen on March 31
The Bourbon Theatre is set to have its first live performance in over a year on March 31, when the Hellzapoppin Circus Sideshow Revue comes to town.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – March 13, 2020. That’s the last time the Bourbon Theater had a live performance.
“I pretty much went from 100 emails a day to less than five,” says Andrea Fabiano, who is in charge of booking live performers at the Bourbon.
She says the past 365 days have been a struggle, as many venues across the United States and the state of Nebraska have been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s personal for a lot of us,” Fabiano said. “We love the business. We wouldn’t be there if we didn’t. We’re just excited to come back.”
The Bourbon is set to have its first live performance of the year on March 31, when the Hellzapoppin Circus Sideshow Revue comes to town. Fabiano says the venue will be at 25% of its normal capacity, which is about 15o people, not including performers and staff. Groups no larger than eight people will be spaced across the theatre and masks will be required. Fabiano says she’s eager and anxious to start booking shows again.
“Being nervous, I mean, that’s an understatement,” she said. “We primarily just want to do everything correctly because we’ve been so diligent about staying shut down for the safety of our community. And we don’t want to tarnish that now.”
