Alexis Markowski named finalist for Lisa Leslie Center of the Year award

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska’s Alexis Markowski on Friday was named one of 10 finalists for the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year award.

The 6-foot-3 center is leading the Huskers in both scoring (14.8 PPG) and rebounds (7.7 RPG) through 23 games as a starter.

Markowski is a three-time All-Big Ten center and has been nominated for this award in each of her four seasons at Nebraska.

Throughout her career at Nebraska, Markowski has totaled 1,704 points and 1,134 rebounds, ranking second all-time in rebounds and 11th in scoring.

The Lincoln native also holds the program record for career double-doubles (48), including a 21-point, 11 rebound effort against Michigan on Thursday.

Among the finalists for the award, only seventh-year Kansas State center Ayoka Lee has more career points, rebounds and double-doubles than Markowski.
