LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraskans are marching the capitol this morning to protest the AltEn “cover-up” of toxic seeds.

This morning at 9 a.m., a rally will take place at the State Capitol Rotunda.

AltEn is an ethanol plant by Mead, Nebraska. It was discovered that they were using pesticide-covered seeds, which can be harmful to the soil, air, and water in the area. This week, AltEn’s seed producers are planning to cover the mounds of their byproducts with Posi-Shell, a spray-on mortar shell. The protesters are claiming this is no more than a cover-up. According to the Nebraska Examiner, the pesticide-covered seeds were approved by state legislators back in 2012.

Nebraskans for Peace announced they will be joining the rally, and they encouraged people to, “contact the members of the Executive Board of the Nebraska Legislature and ask them to hold a hearing on LR 159, introduced by Senator Carol Blood.”
