American Medical Association Lobbying to Limit Amount a Person Can Sue

Most people would agree we live in a society now where multi-million dollar lawsuits against doctors are the norm.  But there's one association that wants to limit the amount you can sue for. All in an effort to stop doctors from leaving the profession.

The President Elect of the American Medical Association was in Lincoln Thursday. Dr. John Nelson is pushing for medical liability reform. Dr. Nelson says Nebraska is one of 25 states that has problems concerning medical liability.

The AMA has published a report saying that 19 states are in a full-blown medical liability crisis. According to the AMA, high insurance premiums, because of million dollar lawsuits, are forcing some physicians to no longer provide certain services, and are even forcing physicians out of business. Although Nebraska isn't one of the 19 states on the ama's list, it does show some problem signs.
