Another big temperature drop ahead before the end of the year 12/30/2021
We are off to a LITTLE bit of a warmer start this morning, but some of you are still feeling like the single digits out there. Grab those winter layers again before you head out the door and heat your car up for a bit! Clouds have helped us stay a bit warmer this morning, but they are expected to clear throughout the day today. This is another one of the reasons why we will be warmer today with highs back in the low 40s. Temperatures drop into the upper teens overnight tonight with mostly clear skies. Highs cool down a tad for Friday, with highs in the low 30s and mostly cloudy skies. The second major temperature drop arrives on Saturday as frigid air finally pushes in from Friday’s cold front. Highs only warm into the low teens with overcast skies and accumulating snow in the forecast. Southeast Nebraska is right in the target zone for the heaviest of snow, with 4-6″ of snow possible. This will make traveling difficult on Saturday as roads will be covered and gusty conditions will reduce visibility. Wind chill values will easily be subzero during the day and actual air temperatures will drop below zero going into Sunday morning. That means that it could feel around 20 degrees below zero early Sunday morning!
