Another nice day; Turning up the heat soon

While most of the rain stayed west on Thursday, a few pockets of moisture shifted east overnight and very early Friday. Although we saw a few spotty showers along and south of I-80, those will quickly get out of our hair by mid-morning.

Friday will feature mostly sunny skies overall, with perhaps some fair-weather cumulus clouds forming in the heat of the day. It will be a cooler-than-average day, with highs in the low to mid-80s once again.

Friday Forecast

Although I can’t 100% rule out a pop-up storm on Friday evening, the overall odds look very low. Most should be dry on Friday evening. I’d argue that the better opportunity to see a pop-up storm would be overnight and into Saturday morning across southeast Nebraska.

Stormcast Saturday Morning

We will keep a scattered storm chance into Saturday as well. It will not be raining at every point, but you may have to dodge some storms.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed eastern Nebraska under a marginal (Level 1/5) risk for severe storms on Saturday. This means that out of all the storms, a few of them may be capable of producing large hail and/or damaging winds on an isolated basis.

Severe Weather Outlook - Saturday

THE HEAT BUILDS NEXT WEEK

Temperatures will heat up over the weekend, and that trend does not stop next week. In fact, the long-term data is signaling a big jump in temperatures for an extended period of time.

Temperatures - Looking Ahead

We are forecasting highs in the 90s each and every day next week. By late week, we may even see a few days reaching the upper-90s. The heat will come with humidity as well, so get ready to break out a sweat!
