Another round of strong to severe storms possible

It is a much quieter morning from a weather standpoint. Skies are partly to mostly cloudy statewide, and there is some patchy dense fog in a few spots too. While southeast Nebraska remains mostly dry for the morning, we will see spotty showers in northern/western Nebraska.

These showers will slide east through the morning and into Wednesday afternoon. As a result, we’ll eventually have to introduce a spotty shower chance closer to Lincoln. This activity will probably not be severe. High temperatures will still be below average, in the 80s.

Wednesday Forecast

More storms are possible in the evening, and these ones could be stronger. Storms will develop along a boundary draped across central Nebraska late Wednesday afternoon and evening. These will quickly intensify and move southeast. I suspect the severe weather threat will arrive closer to the Lincoln area sometime after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Stormcast Wednesday Evening

All of central and eastern Nebraska is included under a slight (Level 2/5) risk for severe weather. This means that severe weather is possible on a scattered basis in the yellow-shaded area. So while not everyone may see the severe aspect of the storms, it’ll be in the area so it’s best to be prepared for it.

Severe Weather Outlook

With any stronger storms, I expect hail to be the primary threat. There may be some isolated instances of 2″+ diameter hail. Damaging winds and an isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out.

Severe Storm Threat Assessment

The weather will quiet down once more as we head into Thursday morning. We’ll keep mostly sunny skies for almost all of Thursday in Lincoln, and we should be dry.
