Anti-sex trafficking walk planned for this weekend in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A local nonprofit has organized a sex trafficking awareness walk.
The Walk for Freedom will be held this Saturday in Lincoln.
“With every step, we are driving awareness and action to end sex trafficking in Nebraska,” said Paul Yates, the executive director of I’ve Got A Name. “This event symbolizes our unwavering pursuit of justice, our commitment to upholding human dignity and our relentless fight toward freedom for all.”
The walk will start at 10 a.m. at the Broyhill Fountain behind the University of Nebraska-Lincoln student union and end at the front steps of the state Capitol.
Once participants reach the Capitol, special guests Gov. Jim Pillen and Nebraska volleyball player Bekka Allick will speak.
Registration is $25, $15 for students and free for children 12 and under. Participants will receive a T-shirt and Valentino’s Pizza for lunch.
I’ve Got a Name was founded in 2010 to fight against sex trafficking, originally in southeast Asia, but now in our own backyard as well.
It raises awareness and resources to combat the problem.
