On Saturday afternoon near 10th and Washington street an apartment fire broke out.
"Found an occupant that had escaped to the roof and was trapped on the roof. There was heavy smoke coming out the attic dorm room next to it so our first priority was to rescue the individual which we did we rescued him on a ground ladder and brought to the ground he was been transported," said Battalion Chief Jim Bopp.
The residents inside the apartment say that the fire was a little bit startling.
"I was outside just getting relaxed and some glass flew out of the window, at first I looked up there and it looked like something was sticking out of the window and it sounded like an air gun," said Nathan Bsettis Jr. a resident at the apartment complex.
"All I know is a friend of min I was teasing him and the next thing you know I smelled fire and I asked him what he lit and he said he didn’t light anything and I said well I smell fire and the next thing you know my friend’s husband comes in and told us we need to get out because the up stair started a fire," said Stacy Sorensen.
Officials still have not found the cause of the fire, and there was just one minor injury reported from the incident.
