Armed man demanded Lincoln Lyft driver take him to Chicago, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are looking for an armed man who kidnapped a Lincoln Lyft driver on Saturday.
Around 4 p.m., a woman reported receiving a “strange phone message” from her 36-year-old husband, police said.
She tried calling him back, but he didn’t answer.
Officers then pinged his cell phone, which showed up on Interstate 80 near Waverly.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol didn’t find his vehicle or phone.
Around 6:15 p.m., the woman got a call from a deputy in Cass County, Iowa, who said her husband was found on I-80 near Marne, Iowa.
The victim, who is a Lyft driver, told investigators that a man approached his vehicle and pulled out a gun.
Police said the man demanded the driver to take him to Chicago. But, once in Iowa, he told the victim to pull over.
The man then pulled a gun on a passing Chevy pickup truck and got in.
