Around 500 hay bales destroyed in southern Nebraska fire, officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hundreds of hay bales were reduced to smoldering remains in a southern Nebraska fire on Tuesday.
The fire happened around 3:30 a.m. west of Oxford on Highway 136.
The Oxford Fire and Rescue Department said about 500 hay bales were destroyed in the blaze.
Several crews from nearby communities were called in to help extinguish the flames.
Firefighters from Oxford will monitor the scene throughout the afternoon and into the night.
Officials ask that drivers use caution when traveling in the area. The cause of the fire is unknown.
