LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Ashland-Greenwood boys basketball team on Saturday regained its throne, defeating Omaha Concordia 53-39 in the Class C1 State Championship game at Pinnacle Bank Arena.


After falling to Auburn in the semifinals in 2024, the No. 5-seeded Blue Jays made a convincing run through the bracket in 2025 to win their third title in four years.

The Blue Jays beat No. 4 Cozad in the opening round and No. 1 Lincoln Lutheran in the semifinals.

Ashland-Greenwood was led by Cal Kissinger and Cooper Westerhold with 16 points apiece, while Derek Tonjes also racked up 13 points.

Logan Fangmeyer had a team-high 10 rebounds, while Tonjes and Kissinger each had six boards.

Andrew Kulus and Jackson Thrasher each had 14 points for the Mustangs, while Jackson Shepherd grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Blue Jays finished their season with a 23-5 record and will look to regroup next season, continuing their recent dominance in Class C1.
