NEW YORK (KLKN) — The American Kennel Club (AKC) has released its list of 2020’s Most Popular Dog Breeds, based on AKC registration statistics.

The number one spot was- no surprise- the Labrador Retriever for the 30th year in a row.

But, the number two spot turned out to be quite the underdog. For the first time ever, French Bulldogs take second place above German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers.

While the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, popularized by the Queen of England, was knocked out of the top 10 by the Dachshund.

The “Most Improved” award this year goes to the Belgian Malinois, which rose from 60th place to 37th place.
