Athlete of the week: Concordia Pitcher Alex Johnson
Concordia pitcher Alex Johnson had a career day on Saturday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —Concordia pitcher Alex Johnson had a career day on Saturday.
The right hander threw a complete game, striking out 15 batters on 106 pitches. It was a new career high. It’s the most by a Bulldog since 2021.
But, Johnson also etched his name in history. He’s now the all time Concordia program leader in strikeouts, reaching 282.
⚾ | We have a new strikeout KING!
Congrats to Alex Johnson on becoming the @cunebaseball program record holder for career strikeouts! His total stands at 283 and counting! He surpassed Jason Munsch (281).

Although, Johnson admits he was thinking about it.
“I did know how much I needed coming into today unfortunately,” Johnson said. “I was trying not to look at statistics but it’s hard in a game that’s all stats.”
He also accomplished this feat on his senior day, all but making this weekend that much more special. Johnson says to hold this record at Concordia feels “pretty cool.”
“It’s pretty cool. The culture here, I love it,” said Johnson. “That’s why I stayed all four years.”
Johnson’s Concordia career isn’t over with just yet. With a few more weeks left until postseason play begins, he and the team will have the same mentality he had on Saturday, taking it pitch by pitch.
“Just keep winning the next pitch. That’s kind of the mantra we’re trying to have with the bats and throwing wise,” Johnson said.
The Bulldogs have eight regular season games remaining, starting with a four game road trip in South Dakota vs. Dakota Wesleyan.
First pitch is set for Friday at 2 p.m.
