LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) 227 yards, and two touchdowns. That’s the final stat line from Senior running back Asa Wegryzn in his team’s win Friday night.

Lincoln Christian defeated Lincoln Lutheran 28-14, in the annual battle for the spirit sword game.

Asa, and his senior Crusader class have been waiting for this moment.

“This is a real special occasion, because our senior class has worked so hard for this,” said Wegryzn.”All glory goes to god.”

Wegrzyn had two touchdowns, including an 84-yard score that helped the Crusaders tie the game in the first quarter.

Lincoln Christian was determined to control the run game. Despite an epic performance from the team, Asa still feels that there’s things to work on. Once they click, he says defenses need to watch out

“We’re definitely going to look back, especially that first drive. It didn’t go well,” said Wegrzyn. “We were making the wrong reads, a lot of little things we can clean up, but once we do it’s just going to be a bad day for defenses.”

Asa, and the Crusaders will look to capitalize off their first win when they host their first home game next Friday night.
