Athlete of the Week: Waverly’s Mckinley Moser

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Mckinley Moser had a stellar sophomore season, earning her a Division I commitment to Minnesota, a few months before her junior year begins.
This past week, she announced her commitment the University of Minnesota. “I’ve been to their camp the last two years, and they really made me feel comfortable,” said Moser. “I knew, if they called me that’s where I was going to go.”
The standout setter averaged 9.3 assists per set, and 2.9 digs per set. She recorded 1,041 assists, the sixth most in the state.
She helped lead the way for the Vikings into the state semifinals this past season, where they fell to Skutt Catholic.
“This year, as a sophomore we have a really young team so I had to step up,” Moser said. “Being the setter I kind of just had to lead people.”
But, with her decision to commit this early in her career, she’s says now she can focus on her time at Waverly and help lead the team to new heights.
“Some goals for us are to definitely make it to the state championship,” said Moser. “I’m definitely still motivated to hopefully win a state championship and just continuing to get better, but it’s a relief to get it done with. The last few weeks were really stressful for me just thinking about colleges.”
Waverly’s upcoming schedule in 2025 has yet to be released.
