Attempted abduction of 9-year-old reported in Eagle

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities in Cass County are investigating a report of an attempted abduction.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said it happened about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday near the Eagle Public Pool.

A 9-year-old girl told deputies that she was walking on a trail west of the pool when a man in the parking lot asked if she would help him look for his dog.

The man also said he would take her to get a drink, the sheriff’s office said.

The girl ran away.

She described the man as older with a bald head and no visible facial hair. Authorities think the man is at least 40.

His vehicle may be “brown, gold, tan, or very dirty,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook. The girl also said the car was rusted.

The sheriff’s office asks residents and businesses in the area to check their surveillance footage from 5 to 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Anyone with information, including possible photos and videos of the man or his car, should call the sheriff’s office at 402-296-9370. Reference the case number CS23080330.

Similar incidents were reported in Eagle last fall.
