LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Auburn family is counting their blessings today, after having a scary encounter during Saturday night’s storm.

“I was standing in my entry way and just heard the loudest crash,” Rusty Crotty said. “It was that split second like how much of my house is about to collapse. I knew we had a lot of these large trees that were coming down. It just shook the whole house. It rumbled so loud.”

Rusty, his wife Bobbie and two kids were all in the home. Thankfully, know one was hurt when a 90-foot Pin Oak Tree came crashing down.

It just missed one of their children’s rooms.

“I only slept an hour that night thinking of all the what-ifs,” Bobbie said. “Very grateful that we’re all safe.”

The couple also has a little one on the way.

“We’re just very thankful that we’re all safe,” Crotty said. “She is about seven and a half months pregnant, so we’re just thankful that everyone is okay and our house is okay.”

The Crotty’s said they think the tree has been around since about 1918. They hope to salvage the wood from the tree and turn it into a dining or coffee table.
