LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A fire that destroyed a family’s home was started by a wood pellet stove, according to Auburn Assistant Fire Chief Darwin McCollum.

The family had been vacationing in South Dakota on Saturday, when they saw their house burning through a Ring camera.

Homeowner Shawnee Snider’s father was in the house with their three dogs at the time.  Snider’s father made it out safely, but one of the dogs didn’t.

The family does have a GoFundMe set up to help them find a new home.
