Authorities identify man killed in head-on crash with semi north of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office identified the man who was killed Tuesday in a crash north of Lincoln.

Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said 20-year-old Zacharie Cloutier of Grand Island was driving on Highway 79 around 2:45 a.m. when he crossed into the opposite lane.

Cloutier, who was not wearing a seat belt, crashed head-on into a semi, according to Houchin.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned Cloutier was under the influence of synthetic marijuana, Houchin said.  Several vape pens were discovered inside the vehicle.

Houchin said no one will be charged in the crash and an autopsy had been ordered.
