Auto thefts in Lincoln reach highest totals in 5 years

Since December 1ST there have been 51 auto thefts have been reported in Lincoln.
For the entire year of 2018, auto thefts have totaled 421 in Lincoln, which is the most since 2013.
Many of those cars were unlocked and had the keys inside, but for Bob Bauerle the General Manager of Nebraska Golf and Turf, he has a pretty unique story of how one of his vehicles was stolen.
Someone jumped a fence, and cut the fence and took one of his golf carts for what Bob said was a joy ride.
For him, though this isn’t the first time he has experienced something like this so he has now learned how to keep his things protected.
“I think one of the things is you just have to keep things protected well now, which is sad, but I think that keep keys away from stuff and just be observant and just look for stuff like that,” Bob Bauerle of Nebraska Golf and Turf said.
For Bob Bauerle though even though he has gone through a lot of heartaches from these vehicle break-ins he says that he is grateful for the Lincoln Police Department and all of their help.
Lincoln Police really want to remind everyone to keep your cars locked, and to not leave your keys in your vehicle at any time.
