Bahl’s big day leads No. 21 Nebraska softball past Northwestern in series opener

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The No. 21-ranked Nebraska softball team picked up its 30th win of the season Saturday, topping Northwestern 11-1 in five innings in the first of three games in Evanston.


Jordyn Bahl got the start for the Huskers, only giving up two hits and striking out 11 batters while earning her 17th win of the year.

Bahl also contributed at the plate going 3-for-4, with a HR and a career high 5 RBIs.

Nebraska scored 8 of its 11 runs in the second inning.

The Huskers outhit the Wildcats 10-2 and went 4-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

Nebraska’s 11 runs marks the 18th time the Huskers have scored 10+ runs in a game this season.

The Big Red also got a monkey off their back, defeating Northwestern for the first time since May 15, 2021.

Nebraska will take the field for game two on Sunday at 4 p.m. That game can be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
