Bat scare near county fair has Nebraska authorities urging caution

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — It’s not all fun and games this fair season after a bat that appeared to be sick was found within reach of children.
The Boyd County Sheriff’s Office says it was recently located by Spencer Pool, near the county fairgrounds.
The bat was tested for rabies, and the results were negative.
The sheriff’s office said while that’s great news, it’s important to remember that bats and other animals carry diseases that can put humans in danger.
It’s asking everyone to be cautious at outdoor gatherings and to contact authorities if you have any concerns.
The Boyd County Fair wraps up Saturday.
