Beatrice head football coach retires after 21 years of coaching

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — After 21 years of coaching, Beatrice head football coach Jeff Kezeor has announced his retirement.
The announcement came on Wednesday morning in a press release from Beatrice Athletic Director Cale Kaiser.
According to Kaiser, Kezeor was known for his unwavering commitment to developing his players both on and off the field.
Kaiser said he leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond wins and losses.
“Throughout his career, Coach Kezeor built his programs around the values of hard work, teamwork, and character,” Kaiser said. “His philosophy was simple but powerful — focus on the kids first, and success will follow. That approach has shaped the lives of countless student-athletes, several of whom have gone on to play college football under his guidance.”
Kezeor said his pride comes from what the kids accomplish after football.
“Football was always the vehicle, but it was never the destination,” Coach Kezeor said. “My greatest pride comes from seeing these young men grow into strong, responsible adults who give back to their communities. Running the Orangemen program has been an honor. Our slogan, ‘Orangemen Fight Never Dies,’ means so much more than just football—it’s a mindset that extends far beyond the lights.”
That fighting spirit has taken on a deeply personal meaning for Kezeor.
His son, Beau, was born with Down syndrome and has shown incredible courage, undergoing five surgeries this year alone — including open-heart surgery and the recent implantation of a permanent pacemaker.
“The Lord has truly blessed me with this angel,” Kezeor shared. “He has taught me so much about life and what it truly means to be strong and to fight. I’m looking forward to many days filled with smiles and “bell-ringing” (reference to the victory bell) events. Thank you to everyone who has supported me through all the experiences of this incredible journey.”
The Orangemen finished last season 0-9, facing six teams that made the Class B playoffs.
Kezeor finished his Beatrice tenure with a 12-35 record and two postseason appearances.
He took the head coaching job in Beatrice in 2021.
